The speed and power are all perfect in this video but i am a little confused. i was taught today not to move my shoulders while executing a punch and to only really move them when performing an uchi-uke and shoto-uke, can any one explain which way works best?

Hi,

Basic block punch as demonstrated in this video have two basic positions, Shomen (square) and Hanmi (side on).

We could go in a lot more detail and there are exceptions to the rule, but most shotokan Dojo teach the moves in the video the same way and that is, when performing the block, the body, shoulders and hips should be side on (hanmi), then when performing the reverse punch, the the body, shoulders and hips should be square.

But ultimately Check with your sensei because there are several ways to get to the top of a mountain and your sensei's system may be different.

Hope this helps

how to make uchi-uke strong? I work with my hips and it still seems to be too weak Sad I think this kind of problem is also with shuto-uke.

As a source to spread knowledge of healthy activities it is helpful and the scene can be used best as an example of the tactic to young ones and own revival.
